By Jennifer P. Gaitano

BUTUAN CITY, July 30 (PIA) – The Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Caraga conducted on Monday the selection process of its job applicants through a written examination and interview at the PIA-Caraga regional office here.

PIA-Caraga Regional Director Abner Caga said that one thing that makes selection process unique among other government agencies is that, it is not only PIA personnel who are involved but also its partner stakeholders from the quad-media.

“The media has been our partner in information dissemination and we also wanted them to know better our PIA personnel to establish a good working relationship with them, that’s why we considered them to be in the members of the panel,” said Caga.

Caga added that in this way, applicants will experience fair and transparent selection process by the PIA selection board. “After the examination, applicants are given the chance to see each of their answers during the rotation of test questionnaires. We want to inculcate to them (applicants) the mindset that the agency is just and transparent. With this, we will also be able to get the best and deserving applicant for the position."

Caga also emphasized that applicants who desire to work in the agency must be able to pass both the examination and the interview and should possess good communication skills; willing to work beyond what is expected; eager to achieve the agency’s targets; among others.

“Since the seven applicants are after for the Information Officer II position, he/she must possess the Career Service (Professional)/Second Level Eligibility; a proficient writer of news and feature articles for print and broadcast; has vast experience in media coverages of important event; proficient in the formulation of communication plans on development programs; proficient in MS word, excel, powerpoint presentation applications; and one-year of relevant experience,” Caga said.

It was also learned that the applicants’ outputs will be sent to PIA central office for further assessment and final decision considering the choice of the regional selection board.(JPG/PIA-Caraga)
