AgSur town joins DepEd's 'Rapid Disaster Review on Armed Conflict'workshop

AGUSAN DEL SUR, Aug. 22 (PIA) -- The local government unit of Loreto has joined the Department of Education (DepEd) here in conducting "Rapid Disaster Review on Armed Conflict.

Mayor Dario E. Otaza joined 455 teachers during the one-day activity led by Dr. Juan Sabanal, Andresa Enriquez, and other DepEd officials.

The activity aimed in assessing the current peace and order situation as well as the plight of teachers in conflict-stricken barangays.

In his message, Otaza emphasized that one of his priority programs is the stabilization of peace and order in the municipality.

He said the on-going conflict between the New People’s Army (NPA) and the military in the barangays of Kauswagan, Sabud and in the neighboring barangays of San Mariano and Binucayan have been partially resolved.

He assured that the peace and order situation in these areas had already normalized, although rallies of some groups believed to be cohorts of the NPA are continuously staged in the provincial capitol and in Davao City, he said.

He encouraged the people, especially  teachers assigned in the affected areas,  to be calm and continue perform their duties.

He further called on his constituents to support the campaign of the local government to resist the influence of the CPP/NPA.

During the activity, the Municipal Information Services presented the details of the Peace and Order program of the local government unit.

The present government here, within just several months, have already identified the problems and actions were taken especially those that involved the problems of teachers.
