By Johny S. Natad

BUTUAN CITY, Aug. 20 (PIA) – As part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR), the Mindanao Daily News (MinDaily-Caraga) is partnering with the Philippine Information Agency (PIA-Caraga) and Samahang Magdalo in the conservation and protection of the environment.

Arjay Felicilda, assistant editor of the MinDaily-Caraga, said any environmental effort in the region is worth-supporting, especially the ever growing concern to save and protect Mount Mayapay.

“The continuing effort to save Mount Mayapay from any environmental destruction – as a priority concern – must be sustained,” Felicilda contended.

Under the stewardship of Publisher Dante Macasero. Sudaria, MinDaily-Caraga and her sister publications – the MinDaily-Davao, MinDaily-NorMin, Business Daily, BusinessWeek Mindanao, Mindanao Star and Cagayan de Oro Times – has been providing space for environmental advocacy to increase awareness and encourage participation of different stakeholders.

“Partnering with PIA Caraga and Samahang Magdalo in this move is an opportunity for us to ensure that our environmental advocacy is working and has impact on the general public,” Felicilda added.

Meanwhile, PIA Caraga Regional Director Abner Caga bared that the MinDaily Caraga has been a partner in delivering relevant, appropriate and real-time news and development updates to Caraganons.

“The PIA Caraga is very happy to partner with the MinDaily not only in disseminating and ensuring the free flow of accurate, timely and relevant information, but also in our collaborative environmental advocacy, especially to save Mount Mayapay, as one of the natural landmarks in the region,” Caga said.

Regional Coordinator Michael Leo Cane Torralba of Samahang Magdalo said that the partnership with the media is a welcome opportunity for the group that aims for ecological sustainability and development in the country.

“We considered this partnership with the MinDaily-Caraga and PIA Caraga a positive development, in line with the organization’s advocacy to save and protect the environment,” Torralba stated.

He appreciates the commitment of other individuals or groups, such as the MinDaily-Caraga, “who have the heart to help save and protect Mount Mayapay.” (JSN/PIA-Caraga/jdelpf)
