Roadshow promotes animation in Butuan

By Jennifer P. Gaitano

BUTUAN CITY, Sept. 19 (PIA) – In today’s Information Technology – Business Process Management (IT-BPM) and ITPreneurship Road Show in the Next Wave Cities held at the Almont Hotel’s Inland Resort here, the Animation Council of the Philippines (ACPI) promoted the art of animation to students.

ACPI President Benjie Marasigan said that Filipinos are naturally artistic and have excelled in the field of animation around the world. As defined, animation is the process of creating the continuous motion and shape change illusion by means of rapid display of a sequence of static images that minimally differ from each other.

“The Philippine Animation Industry from 1983 to this present has served 30 years of passion for animation. We outsourced works from top animations studios such as Disney, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, Hanna-Barbera, and Toie Animation Japan,” said Marasigan.

Marasigan also expressed that to become a successful animator, one should have passion in the field of work, must be patient, professional, and must be a team player. “The work of an animator is not that easy, it’s tedious, that’s why patience is really a big thing for us,” he said. (JPG/PIA-Caraga)
